London Terrorist Attack

June 7, 2017

I found this image on Reddit, and this was a response to the recent terrorist activities in London. I sort of agree with its  message because these horrifying acts that should be anomalies, are starting to become more common, and these hashtags don't really have any tangible impact. However they do provide support which is incredibly important and hashtags such as #PorteOuverte (which means Open Door) allowed people a safe home after the attacks in France.

What can you do? Here's 5 simple ways.

  1. Report suspicious activity to your local authorities (who or what you saw, when you saw it, where it happened, and why its suspicious); call 911 if its an emergency

  2. Become a partner with the "If You See Something, Say Something" campaign from the Department of Homeland Security here

  3. Adapt and live in a state of "yellow". This means being aware and being able to channel fear into something healthy; not being too fearful or oblivious (from The Gift of Fear)

  4. Sign up as a volunteer at an emergency response organization like the Red Cross here . Just enter your zip code to find volunteer opportunities near you.

  5. Donate! there are many campaigns that you can donate to on websites like GoFundMe. click here to donate today.
