After the destruction of the recent hurricanes, Puerto Rico is in ruins. There is limited food, low fuel, and lots of damaged infrastructure. There is a lot of work to be done to return this island back to its former state and you can be a part of the rebuilding. This cartoon from Darrin Bell illustrates the inaction and suffering accurately.
What can you do? Here are 4 ways how:
1. Sign a petition (5 minutes) This is amazingly easy to do and actually makes an impact. The Jones Act prevents foreign ships from dropping of aid directly to Puerto Rico. Sign this petition to persuade Congress to waive this here.
2. Donate! (19 minutes) Food is extremely scarce in Puerto Rico. World Central Kitchen will provide food, water, and other necessities. Donate here.
3. Use Lyft (Whenever you want) Round up and donate with Lyft. Opt in to Round up & Donate on the Lyft app and choose the Red Cross. The Red Cross is helping with aid in Puerto Rico and this is a unique way to help. More information here.
4. Spread the word (6 minutes) Like and share this post and get your friends and family to support as well. Change is driven by people and the more people the better.
